Before you request a service, there may be some simple solutions that could solve your problem.

• Dirty Filter

  • Although set timelines are a great way to keep track of your filter maintenance, there are a lot of environmental factors that can soil a filter faster than usual. ALWAYS check your filter. A dirty filter in the summer time will often present itself by causing your indoor coil to freeze into a block of ice. This is easily fixed by replacing the filter and setting the thermostat to fan only for 4-5 hours. You can then resume cooling.

• Return Air

  • Odds are you have large grills on your baseboards that send air back to the furnace. If furniture or other objects are placed in front of these it can severely affect the performance of your system. A blocked return in the summer time will often present itself by causing your indoor coil to freeze into a block of ice. This is easily fixed by replacing the filter and setting the thermostat to fan only for 4-5 hours. You can then resume cooling.

• Power

  • Often times on the side of your furnace or in close proximity is a switch, make sure that switch is on and that you don’t have a tripped circuit breaker for the Furnace or Air Conditioner.
